Khmelnytsky region is located in the western part of central Ukraine, the main part of the region is located on a hill (Podolsk and Volyn Upland), the average height of the area is 310 meters above the sea level. The economy of the region has dominated enterprises of engineering industry, metal and food industry, the region is one of the leaders in Ukraine in production of sugar, there are 16 sugar factories operate in the Khmelnytsky Region. Khmelnytsky Nuclear Power Plant located in Khmelnytsky region, enterprises of light industry, timber and woodworking industry are also important part of region economy. The territory of Khmelnytsky region is rich in natural non-metallic minerals (limestone, granite, chalk, gypsum). There are numerous historic sites and monuments in Khmelnytsky region including 230 architectural monuments of national importance.
